Generous Hunters is a wild game meat donation program for people in need in most regions of Quebec, made possible thanks to the harvests and generosity of hunters and the involvement of butchers.
From this year onwards, the participating hunters will the oppotunity to have their game meat (white-tailed deer & moose) cut up by a Generous Hunter-certified butcher and donate a small part of their harvest – a few pounds are enough to make a difference! A Moisson member or an accredited organization of the Food Banks of Quebec network will collect and distribute meat in the region.
The success of this program relies on the collaboration of many groups, organizations, and individuals who contribute in their own way to the project:
- Fédération québécoise des chasseurs et pêcheurs : Thanks to regional FédéCP volunteers, the Fédération promotes the program to butchers and recruits them, in addition to coordinating, promoting, and ensuring the longevity of the program.
- Food Banks of Quebec, their 19 Moisson members and other accredited organizations: They provide logistical support, collect donations, and redistribute them to people in need.
- Cohorte 7 Élite de l’École d’Entrepreneurship de Beauce : They supported the various organizations in the provincial implementation of the program.
